Happy Mother's Day

Last week I decided that I would begin praying for the gift of speech for Mother's Day. I prayed even though I knew I wouldn't be here on Mother's Day to hear it when the prayer was answered.

Sunday afternoon, Pat, the kids and I went hiking at Dodge Point in South Newscastle. It was a gorgeous day, though the wind was cold. We were able to participate in my most favorite activities, hiking and beach combing. Not to mention spending time with my family. While there on the beach I decided to give Scott a call. I was rewarded beyond words, when he said  "Hi" to me on the phone. It was very labored and kind of resembled the heavy breathing of a prank caller, but was a beautiful sound none-the-less. Later, when he had mastered it a little more, Regina called me back so that he could say "Hi" once more.

When I arrived at Brewer Rehab Monday morning, he once again said "Hi" to all of us and proceeded to wow his therapists and nurses with an audible greeting as well. The most precious of words though were in the afternoon when I said to him, "I Love You" and he responded with the same words. Now he's saying "good morning, yes, no, sorry, and please." Jordan said "knock, knock," and Scott responded with "who's there?" Then, continued to respond to the rest of the joke as Jordan continued.

Thank you God for this amazing gift and very special answer to prayer.
